three generations now, a small family in the Netherlands has been hand
forging professional grade garden tools, drawing from thoughtful family
designs that range from traditional standbys to clever innovations. These
tough, high-quality tools are forged from stainless steel and have ash
handles for excellent strength and durability when exposed to the elements.
The natural, unfinished handles are less slippery than finished handles
and will absorb sweat from the hand. Each tool is shaped, polished and
sharpened by hand.
Forged Half-Moon Hoes
Pull hoes are great for cutting weeds near the surface and for moving
soil. The gooseneck on this half-moon version sets the head at the perfect
angle to slice through the soil without having to adjust your position.
Turned on its side, the heads shape and sharply pointed corners
make it ideal for edging, furrowing or tight work.
About 13" long overall with a 5" handle and a 4" by 1-1/4"
head, the short-handled version is a comfortable length to wield from
a kneeling or seated position, or to dig in raised beds. With a head measuring
6-1/4" at its widest by 1-1/2", the full-length hoe has a 60"
handle and measures 67" overall, providing good reach without the
need to bend.
C. Forged Cultivator
Cultivators are one of the most commonly used garden tools because
they loosen and pull weeds and their roots (instead of cutting them off
at the soil surface) while aerating the soil. This one is effective because
its sharp tines penetrate the soil with ease.
The head is 3-1/2" at its widest point, making it easy to maneuver
in tight spaces. The handle is 60" long with an overall tool length
The 13" Forged Half-Moon Hoe is no longer available.
