This set includes all the tools needed by anyone with dreams of designing a new garden come spring. It includes a color wheel, a landscape design template, a sketch pad, and the book
Designing Your Gardens and Landscapes.
The 9-1/4" diameter color wheel has 18 pure colors, each with 6 tints and 6 shades and tones for 216 color variations. It is plastic coated with UV inhibitors to resist fading and moisture, and includes an instruction booklet.
The 8-1/2" × 11" template has all the common symbols needed to sketch out a garden design, including trees, shrubs and evergreens in various sizes, hedges, palm trees, ground covers, fences, bridges, walkways, gates, and more. Scale is 1/4":1'. An ideal companion, the 8-1/2" × 11" sketch pad has 96 sheets of paper that is whiter and 27% heavier than usual stock. The inch graduations along the left-hand side and across the bottom are divided into increments of 12ths, so that architectural scales (e.g., 1/4"=1') can be applied.
The author of Designing Your Gardens and Landscapes, Janet Macunovich, is the founder of the Michigan School of Gardening. She leads you through the steps of bringing a mental picture of your garden into reality, taking into account hardiness zone and plant compatibility. Spiral-bound softcover, 8-1/2" × 11", 167 pages, 2001.
All items in the set are also available separately.
