Unlike many folding shovels that are of disappointing construction and function, this is one shovel you can depend on when you need it most. Ideal for camping or keeping in a vehicle for emergencies, it is well made and designed for rigorous use.
The 6" x 8" treaded carbon-steel blade is large enough for moving material efficiently, and has a spear point to ease digging in hard-packed soil or snow. One side of the blade is bevelled for chopping; the other has serrations to help cut through roots or sod. The blade can be set in line with the handle or locked at 90° for quickly trenching around tents or campfires, or for use as a tamp. With an open D-style grip large enough to allow use with gloves or mitts, the aluminum handle has a bi-fold design for compact storage. A single threaded collar securely locks the handle and blade in position – there are no wobbly joints.
Measuring 23" end to end when open, it folds to 9" x 6" x 2" so it can be stowed almost anywhere. Weighs just over 2 lb. A real workhorse.
