| Dear Customer,
There are a lot of new goodies in this catalogue and many old
stand-bys. Most of the old stand-bys are the same price or lower
than last year. This is partly due to the strength of the Canadian
dollar in Europe, and partly because we now purchase in larger
quantities — thanks to you. Some items have gone up in price
but it is a pleasure to say that the general price level is down.
Among the new items are a few hardware specialties. With a bit
of luck, we'll be bringing you a much wider range of hardware
early in 1984. We hope to have as many as possible of the hard-to-find
items (butler's tray hinges, knife hinges, game's table hinges,
etc.) as well as a broad selection of high quality brass and steel
hardware of all types for general cabinetmaking. If you want any
particular items included, please drop us a line and we'll try
to include them.
A major change for us this year is the introduction of a computer.
We needed it to keep track of stock movements so that our purchasing
could be more easily controlled. We will still turn orders around
in 24 hours but you will receive a printed packing slip instead
of a photocopy of your original order with numerous notations
on it. The system we installed is a tried and tested one that
will let us spend time on jobs that are more productive than counting
Don't let this new format stop you from writing notes with your
orders. The same people who used to scribble on your order copy
are still here. We can still answer questions or help you to choose
the right tool. We'll just be leaving less evidence on your packing
I just hope that the adjustment isn't too hard on those of us
not in the computer generation...
