| Dear Customer,
As the hottest and driest summer in Canadian history is finally
over, it will be a pleasure to get back into the workshop on a
regular basis. If you were air drying wood this summer, you should
have lots of good raw material for the winter's projects.
As usual, we've included a few new temptations in this catalogue
as well as refining some of the old ones. We have several excellent
products of our own manufacture which we will be introducing later.
One of our new products, the poly-gauge, made it in time for the
main catalogue but the rest will be coming on stream later. We
find ourselves a bit stretched in serving the export market for
many of our products, so while our product development activity
hasn't slowed, our manufacturing facilities have been taxed by
increased foreign demand. Moving to new quarters will help in
the long term; in the short term, the move causes its own problems.
With this catalogue, we are introducing customer cards. These
will speed up order taking and simplify paperwork in the showrooms.
You will only have to provide your customer number and name for
personal shopping to let us track your purchase and keep you on
the mailing list — no more addresses and postal codes except
It is obviously in our interest to keep track of customers, but
here is a substantial benefit for you as well. When you want to
return a product but have lost your sales slip, we can usually
locate the sale on our computer. So a simple, accurate system
is in the interest of everyone.
For your guiding principles for the coming year, please see the
bottom of page 140.
