1993/94 Gardening Catalog Cover   1993/94 Gardening Customer Letter

Print Catalog Cover

Dear Customer,

One time, in a meeting contemplating a particularly obscure problem, an old boss of mine said, "Well, as the Greeks used to say, 'Kai oligon men chronon ephainonto hoi Athenaeoi'." I was quite impressed until I found out that the expression meant "For a short time the Athenians seemed to prosper."

Maybe you have been equally impressed by gardener friends who constantly use Latin terms even if only referring to something as common as dandelions. Well, you can now cut through the haze with the several thousand translations in the book Gardener's Latin (see back cover). It may not make you a better gardener but it could make you feel less inadequate.

Yours sincerely,

Leonard G. Lee
President
