Woodworking Tool Contest
Lee Valley sponsored the first www.woodcentral.com
tool-making contest, part of the website's craftsmanship awards
programan ongoing series of contests open to amateur woodworkers.
The judging panel included Chris Schwarz, editor of
Popular Woodworking, Clarence Blanchard, publisher of Fine
Tool Journal and president of the Brown Auctions, and Brian
Ebbinghaus, Lee Valley's research and development manager. They
met at Lee Valley headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, for some
hands-on critiquing of these creative and innovative functional
tools.
Three first prizes were awarded: one for craftsmanship, one
for utility and one for aesthetics. Five runners-up were also
recognized. Congratulations to the winners and finalists,
and thank you to all of the participants.
Visit the WoodCentral website to view photos and descriptions of all entries. The winning tools are featured on the front cover and page 2 of the June Lee Valley woodworking supplement. Look for your supplement in the mail in the next few weeks. If you would
like to be added to our mailing list, please contact us.
