Hope Mill Restoration
The Hope Mill,
a water-powered sawmill built in the early 1800s on the banks of the Indian River,
located in the Kawartha Lakes/Peterborough, Ontario, region, had become derelict
and subject to vandalism and arson by
the 1990s. That is, until a group of retirees took on the time-consuming and labor-intensive
project of restoring it as a demonstration mill, serving to save the unique character
