Precise, versatile and economically priced, this gauge is a worthwhile addition to any workshop. Beyond its obvious function as a height gauge, where it is ideal for setting router bits or table saw blades, it can also be used horizontally, such as when positioning a router table or drill press fence. However, there is another valuable feature that is not immediately apparent – the readout and scale unit can be removed from the base and mounted to a shop-built jig with double-sided tape or screws (#1 or #2).
Since the unit can be zeroed at any point and performs differential measuring without recalibration, it is an easy way to add a direct-reading gauge to a jig that needs to be indexed relative to a cutter, such as with tenoning or finger joint jigs. The gauge converts between metric, decimal inches and fractional inches at the touch of a button (to 0.05mm, 0.002" and 1/32"; accurate to ±0.1mm/0.004"), displaying results in easy-to-read 5/16" high numerals on the LCD screen.
The nylon base has rare-earth magnets embedded in the feet, allowing hands-free use on ferrous machine tables. A removable depth-gauge needle is supplied to let you measure recesses up to 50mm (2") below the level of the feet. 75mm (3") capacity. Gauge is about 5-5/8" high by 4-5/8" wide by 1" thick. Button-cell battery included. It has an on/off button and automatically shuts off after five minutes to conserve battery power.
A special quantity purchase allows us to offer this convenient workshop tool at an excellent price.
