 | | A modern take on an old idea, these specially shaped cauls challenge the notion that you can never have enough clamps. Where you would normally place clamps every few inches, these are cambered along their length to evenly distribute the force of just two clamps over a long span. Lightly waxed to resist glue, they are precisely CNC-machined from hard maple to what boatbuilders refer to as a "fair" curve — one without hollows or projections.
In use, the camber inverts to ensure there are no areas void of clamping force. Compatible with a range of clamp styles, they have a T-slot that accepts fast-acting bar and C-clamps to steady them while you tighten the screw.
Available in 2', 3' and 4' lengths, they measure 1-3/4" square at the midpoint. The 2' caul has 1/4" of camber; the 3' and 4' sizes have 7/16" of camber. Available in pairs or as a six-piece set of all three sizes.
