Many router tables claim to be flat, and some even are,
until you mount a router to them and they suddenly become concave. Each
Veritas® router table top is a 16" x 24" steel plate that
has been hand tuned to have a slight upward curve. This curve is specifically
set so that the weight of the router cannot deform the router table to
concave. When used with routers up to 10 lb, the Veritas router table
top will always be slightly convex, with the highest point adjacent to
the bit, so your depth of cut will always be exactly as set. Because the
plate is steel, it will not sag over time, as many laminate tables will.
The table top can be used with magnet-based accessories and, as it is
only 3/16" thick, any router bit can be used without removing the router's
base plate. With the quick-change clamps (adjust to fit any base shape),
a router can be installed or removed in 30 seconds or less. To adjust
bits, just prop up or flip the plate.
Instructions are included for building a stand, or you can buy our table
stand. The table top can also be used in a Workmate® or an end vise without
the need of a base.
The flush inserts securely lock into the 3-5/8" opening with a simple
cam action using our pin wrench. They are the best made and guaranteed
to meet a tolerance of +0.000" / -0.004". Template inserts (inside dia.
stated below, outside dia. is 1/8" larger) are used as guide bushings
for pattern tracing. Zero-clearance inserts can be drilled to fit any
bit or a bit can be plunged through them. Our 1-3/4" dia. counterbore
insert accepts the brass template guides and ring nut. The pin wrench
is available separately for table tops purchased before September 2000.
