For those woodworkers who use their router table exclusively for chamfering and rounding over edges with piloted bits, a fence is an unnecessary luxury. However, for the rest of us, a fence is an absolute necessity. Nearly all routing makes use of a fence in some way or another.
A good router table fence should be straight, rigid, and easily adjusted, lock perpendicular to the table, and allow for good chip escape. Ours has all these features and more. The nesting extrusions are the heart of the fence system. The top rail is a single 28" long piece to maintain rigidity. The lower rail is split for adjustable openings up to 8". The wooden sub-fences then let you match the bit size and shape for maximum support, reduced tear-out and optimized chip escape.
Alternatively, you can simply slide the sub-fences together for running trim rails and moldings. The T-slot tracks on all faces, with the 1/4-20 T-slot nuts, are ideal for a range of stops and guides. The 2" wide fence base gives excellent stability and the 3-3/8" height gives an ample reference face for vertical passes.
Two versions of the fence are available, depending upon the system you purchase. Each includes two wooden sub-fences, T-nuts, a screwdriver and hardware.
For use with our steel table top (05J20.01), select the fence with two locking edge clamps. It includes a micro-adjust system (accurate to 0.001") for reduced set-up time. Fence adapters are available to convert this fence to work with a T-track.
For custom-made tables using our insert plate (05J38.01), select the fence with the T-track adapters. If your table is not already equipped with T-tracks, our T-slot aluminum extrusions are available separately in three lengths.
