A. This versatile system produces consistent profiles on a wide range of turning tools. The basic jig is composed of two bases, a 3" x 5" grinding platform, and a 27-3/4" long adjustable V-arm. Both the platform and the V-arm attachments can be used in either base, allowing you to have concurrent set-ups or to switch between fine and coarse wheels.
A sturdy cam-lock provides a firm hold, but releases easily. Ideal for tackling scrapers and parting tools, the grinding platform adjusts for different bevel angles and locks with a gyratory handle. The V-arm produces flawless straight grinds on bowl gouges and roughing gouges, and easily accommodates your longest tools. Illustrated instructions included.
All components are made in Canada.
B. An accessory for the basic Wolverine jig, the Vari-Grind makes quick work of fingernail-profile grinds and complex bowl gouge profiles. Simple to set up and maneuver, it guides the tool through the combined movements that are so difficult to accomplish free hand.
Secure clamping is provided by a spindle and a brass adjustment knob with clamp pad. Its 3/4" capacity accepts even the largest bowl gouges.
C. Installed in the V-arm, this attachment simplifies grinding both sides of the skew identically. The tool handle registers in pockets on either side of the arm, automatically setting a 30° rake angle. Pivoting the skew gently from side to side reduces the amount of hollow grind, resulting in improved control at the lathe. The same grind is produced on the opposite face by simply switching from one pocket to the other.
D. Any grinding wheel benefits from periodic truing. This dressing jig, with its 1/4-carat diamond and micrometer adjustment, allows controlled removal of minute amounts of material from the grinding wheel, both truing it and exposing fresh abrasive.
