Used for common installations, each of these power supplies comes prewired with a 60" (1.5m) AC cord with plug end for use in a standard 120V outlet. The 12V DC output is equipped with a color-coded red/black wire connected to a removable terminal block for connection to your LED lights. If you use one of our LED dimmer switches with these power supplies, it is always connected between the power supply and the LED lights.

LED Tape Lighting

Choosing the appropriate power supply wattage is determined by the length of tape lighting being used, its LED density and how the lighting will be configured. Based on the type of installation configuration, the lengths shown in the chart are totals for the tape lighting using full-power brightness; do not include connecting wires in your calculations. Exceeding these lengths will cause LEDs farthest from the power supply to appear dimmer due to voltage drop. A power supply capable of higher current delivery will not reduce the impact of voltage drop.

A straight-run layout uses single or multiple strips in series powered only at one end of the LED strip. A center-feed layout powers two equal legs of tape lighting from a central position; a loop-back layout has both ends of the LED tape powered simultaneously. Array layouts have several unequal lengths of tape powered from one end.

LED 1-Watt Mini Recessed Light and 3-Watt Downlight

For the mini light and downlight, the appropriate power supply wattage is determined by the number of lights (and their full-power brightness wattage) being used. For example, a 15-watt power supply will effectively run up to 15 of the 1-watt mini lights or four of the 3-watt downlights (four lights at 3.24 watts each = 12.96 watts) at maximum brightness. Exceeding these power supply wattages will cause the lights to flicker or appear dim. The number shown in the chart indicates the maximum number of lights that can be installed per power supply.

Note: Keep in mind that these power supplies are for indoor use only. If you are installing outdoor-rated lighting (such as our mini recessed lights) outdoors and wish to use these power supplies, install the power supply indoors and run outdoor-rated wiring from it to the lights.

Calculate each leg's wattage requirement separately, then add together for the total watts needed for your array. Select a power supply that exceeds the total watts needed.

Example:

Leg 1 is 5' of 30 LEDs = 4W
Leg 2 is 10' of 30 LEDs = 8W
Leg 3 is 5' of 30 LEDs = 4W
