Blending the attributes of a rabbiting spade and a trenching spade, this lightweight transplant spade is perfectly sized for maneuvering in confined spaces. With a blade that is longer and narrower than most standard spades, it offers precision in garden work and captures a sufficient depth of root structure during transplantation without harming surrounding plants.
Weighing 3 lb 9 oz, it stands about 43" tall and has a durable ash shaft set in a deep socket for excellent strength. The 10 3/4" × 5" head is non-rusting and scours well. Foot treads on the head help to prevent damage to your footwear and arches.
The spade exceeds the British standard of 121 lb of prying force at the end of the handle without breaking; however, it is not indestructible and should not be used to uproot saplings or move boulders. As with any wood-handled tool, we do not recommend leaving it outdoors in the rain.
