Twisting the holder halves allows them to be separated for insertion/removal of the string. The top half has an integral hang tab, allowing the holder to be hung. Once a staple item in post offices, butcher shops, or any place parcels were string wrapped.
About 4-1/2" tall and 4-1/2" wide, it works best with string balls about 3" x 3".
