These brackets greatly simplify the framing of an arbor or pergola. The top bracket eliminates the interlocking joinery normally needed where beams intersect at a post; it has a through channel for a long beam and stopped channels on both sides so it can be used at a corner or for an intermediate post. The open-topped channels accept nominal 2" thick lumber 4" wide or greater (2 x 4s, 2 x 6s, 2 x 8s, etc.). Mounts on a nominal 4 x 4 post. Stainless-steel mounting hardware included. Cast from aluminum, with a powder-coat paint finish, it creates a joint as strong as traditional methods.
The bottom bracket lets you secure the pergola posts to a deck or other hard surface. Consisting of two L-shaped pieces that attach to the corners of the post, it is easy to install on the post with the included galvanized screws. It has four flanges with 11/32" diameter holes for anchoring to a surface; anchoring fasteners are not included. Made from zinc-plated steel with a powder-coat paint finish.
