Swing-Away Mailbox Bracket

Snow plows, wide loads and mailbox vandals are the bane of most roadside mailbox owners. There are few sights as discouraging as seeing your mailbox lying crumpled in a road ditch. This swing-away bracket will prevent or substantially reduce damage from these various sources.

The heavy-duty steel bracket mounts on standard 4 x 4 lumber at the junction of the vertical and horizontal posts. When an object hits it from either side, it swings up and out of the way. The tension can be adjusted so it stays up after being hit or returns to its original position.
