Sharpen Your Carving Tools
Thursday, June 7, 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Success in carving requires sharp tools! In this workshop, David Driscoll will demonstrate the methods he uses to sharpen and maintain a keen edge on carving tools, using power and hand sharpening techniques. If you have a carving tool that needs sharpening, bring it along to work on. All other tools and materials will be provided.
Fee: $25.00

David Driscoll, former mayor of the city of Port Moody, taught himself how to carve. When he read Benoi Deschenes’ book, The Magic Gouge, David was impressed by Benoi’s carvings and sought out the author in Quebec. Studying with Benoi, David refined his skills, and has created community/public works and a number of private commissions and sales. Carving wood is a source of personal joy and a means of expressing David’s love for people and his relationship with his community. Each new project brings new insights and skills to this life-long learner.
