How to Build a Fern Table
Friday, May 17, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Fern tables are small wonderlands that add interest to shadier spots around the garden. This session will demonstrate how to create and care for these easy-to-assemble miniature landscapes, inspired by garden guru George Schenk, author of Gardening on Pavement, Tables, & Hard Surfaces. Learn how to use ferns, moss, rocks and wood to craft a distinctive focal point for the patio, deck or entryway. You will be introduced to some of the best ferns for Maritime gardens and learn inventive ways to include them in the garden.
Fee: $20.00

Iain Jack is the owner/operator of Fernwood Plant Nursery, a specialty grower and online retailer of hardy garden ferns in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. With a background in horticulture and social work, Iain is an experienced presenter who has brought his engaging style to talks and workshops on a variety of topics, from composting and seed starting to therapeutic horticulture and community gardening. Iain's goal with the nursery is to explore and promote the diversity and landscape value of native and hardy exotic ferns. There are more than 50 fern varieties growing in the collection.
