Veneers and Inlay
Tuesday, March 6, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Some of the most beautiful cuts of wood have long been available only as veneers. Christopher De Champlain will show you the basics of working with commercial veneers, including flattening, cross-banding and tight matching for panels. The choice of substrates on which to lay veneers will be covered, as well as appropriate glues and methods of clamping. Christopher will also discuss inlay decoration for furniture, including simple wood and metal stringing and bandings. Tips on making your own simple bandings will be presented and pointers and precautions about staining and finishing veneered surfaces will be discussed. All tools and materials provided.
Fee: $70.00

Christopher de Champlain is a full time furniture, cabinet and canoe maker who has been designing one-of-a-kind pieces since 2006. A graduate of Algonquin College's cabinetmaking program, Chris has also received training from a number of renowned craftsmen.
