Description
This versatile system gives you everything you need to produce strong pocket-hole joints in a wide range of applications. It is based around a glass-reinforced nylon drill-guide block that mounts onto interchangeable bench-top and portable bases. In the bench-top base, it is an efficient tool for production work, while the portable base makes it ideal for large workpieces or job-site use. A hardened steel insert in the guide block positions the bit to drill a pair of centered holes 9/16", 7/8" or 1 7/16" apart, depending on material width.
The quick-release clamping fixture speeds switching from one stock thickness to another, and has a toothed ratcheting mechanism that permits 1 3/8" of coarse adjustment so you can quickly snug the jaw up to the work by hand. A convenient front-mounted handle moves the non-marring jaw up to 3/4" for final tightening or instant release. Removable 1 1/2" thick stock-support wings help stabilize long workpieces, and have built-in storage compartments for drill and driver bits or other accessories.
The spring-loaded indexing pin lets you position the drilling block to accommodate material from 1/2" to 1 1/2" thick in 1/8" increments. An included snap-in shroud connects to any 1 1/4" vacuum hose for easy debris clearance, with a pivoting outlet that lets you orient the hose to avoid obstruction.
The K5 comes with a robust all-steel step-over clamp with a 3 3/4" reach and 2 7/8" jaw capacity. The clamp's thumbscrew adjuster lets you apply just a light hold for delicate work, or up to 400 lb of clamping force at the maximum setting; once set, it automatically maintains the same force regardless of stock thickness, so you can switch workpieces without making adjustments.
Also included are a micro-adjust workpiece positioning stop, a 3/8" step drill bit and depth collar, a depth-collar setting gauge, a 6" #2 square-recess driver and an assortment of screws. A detailed instruction guide shows you how to use pocket-hole joinery in a wide variety of projects.
Additional 6 1/4" long one-piece HSS step drill bits (3/16" diameter by 5/8" long pilot and 3/8" diameter counterbore) and a 1 1/4" to 2 1/2" hose adapter are available separately.
