Dear Lee Valley,
I thought you might like to see the success our Boy Scout
troop had using your Veritas® Power Tenon Cutters. The
photo shows the Klondike sled the boys built for this year's
annual Klondike Derby. They build a new sled each year for
the competition.
The boys made this sled in about eight hours with only guidance
and supervision from the adult leaders. The skis are split
from a single log with the uprights through-tenoned and wedged
from the bottom (using a 1" tenon cutter). The horizontal
members are tenoned and wedged using a 5/8" cutter.
Needless
to say, the boys received many compliments on their fine sled
and are looking forward to making some camp gadgets using
the tenon cutters this summer. As a side note, the boys love
the shavings that come off the tenon cutters, as they have
found they make excellent tinder for fire starting after they
have been dried.
Thanks
for making such fine tools,
J.L.
