The last serious hurdle was the lever cap. The photo on the right shows the final lever cap before installation. The photo below shows a series of mock-ups (the second from the right was actually an attempt at a finished lever cap, but one of the angles was off by half a degree, so I had to start over.).   Final lever cap

The lever cap on the left was the first kick at the can and was horrible. It was too small, but it did help me figure out some of the angles. The second from the left was actually the third mock-up, after I messed up the third from the left. I decided not to practice on a real bronze lever cap until I was absolutely sure of everything. The final lever cap is on the right. Out of context, it is the nuttiest looking thing I have ever seen and cannot imagine it looking right in any plane.
