Dear
Lee Valley,
Last
November, I purchased the Veritas® Rolling Cabinet Plan. I recently finished building the cabinet and it was a great success.
I thought you might like to see the result, so
I'm sending a couple of photos of the finished product. I took
some of the optional suggestions and have a beautiful cabinet.
Here are the changes I made:
- Changed the cabinet size an inch or two in each
dimension to fit my available space. I also adjusted
the drawer sizes accordingly.
- Used walnut for the framing members and furniture-grade
Baltic birch plywood for the panels. The contrast
is stunning.
- Used recessed drawer handles.
- Added a leather strap handle for pulling the cart.
- Added a five-drawer gang lock.
- Turned the shelf pull-out knob from maple and the
leather strap buttons from walnut.
- Used one set of fixed and one set of swivel/locking
casters.
- Used five pairs of over-extension, 100-lb drawer
slides.
- I finished the cart with five coats of water-based
polyurethane.
