Hello Lee Valley,

A few years ago, I bought the plans in your store for the Folding Rocking Chair. The plans call for the chair to be made of 3/4" birch plywood. I had lots of maple lumber that I had milled from the trees that were taken down so that we could build our house, which happens to be in a hardwood forest. So I made the chair out of 1" sugar maple. These are pictures of the finished product. I used polyvarathane on the chair as a finish and no stain, so you are seeing the natural color of the wood.

Since the wood was 1", the measurements ended up being very tight in the assembly and so the chair does not fold; however, it is very comfortable and I get lots of nice comments about the look of the chair.

Just thought you may like to see it.
