The Dowelmax® is no ordinary doweling jig — it is a versatile, accurate, and easy to use joinery system. Not only does it produce basic edge-to-edge or rail and stile connections, it also creates joints for carcase corners, shelves, table or chair aprons, or attaching face frames to cabinets. All can be done without measuring, letting you work quickly and confidently.
Positioning is easy; mark the front and top faces of both workpieces and (to ensure correct registration) secure the jig to them using corresponding marks machined into it. Joint alignment is assured because the same reference faces are used to set dowel positions on both workpieces and a manufacturing tolerance of ±0.001" maintains precise hole spacing. Spacers are supplied to accommodate different stock thicknesses, to add a reveal, or to drill multiple rows of holes referenced from a single face. An indexing pin lets you move the jig by registering in the last hole drilled, and a
telescoping stop allows repeatable spacing up to 8-3/8" from a hole, for long or wide work.
Made in Canada from aircraft-grade aluminum with heat-treated steel bushings, and hardened brass clamping screws, guide rods and nuts. Patented. An outstanding dowelling jig.
Providing a clamping capacity from 3/4" to 3-1/2", the 3/8" kit contains the jig, three spacers (3/8", 3/4", and 1-5/8"), a 90-deg bracket for T-joints, indexing pin, end-stop, 9.7mm drill bit with stop collar, fifty 3/8" x 1-1/2" dowels, manual, and 45-minute instructional DVD.
To allow use with 1/2" thick stock, the 1/4" drill-guide package includes five guide bushings, indexing pin, end-stop base, 6.5mm drill bit and collar, and 1/8" spacer.
