How to Get Started
For the most basic of set-ups, you just
need an LED lighting kit in the desired
density and a power supply. To this
you may wish to add a dimmer.
An excellent way to add accent lighting in a cove, recess or under a
shelf, valance or kick plate; it can even be used as task lighting with
higher density (more LEDs per metre) tape lighting.
30 White LEDs per metre (9 LEDs per foot)
Well suited for decorative lighting such as above cabinets, in coves or
on tray ceilings, where ambience is the primary purpose of the lighting.
60 White LEDs per metre (18 LEDs per foot)
A good all-around solution for accent lighting and lower brightness task
lighting such as under cabinets and in toe-kick areas. Its greater LED
density provides brighter illumination and a more seamless glow.
120 White LEDs per metre (36 LEDs per foot)
Provides a brightness level suitable for task lighting. Also useful for
accent lighting to be installed very close to an adjacent surface, since
the high LED density provides the most seamless illumination (no hot spots).
Warm White LED Tape Light Kits
While all our tape lighting strips and connectors are available separately
to let you order exactly what you want, the best value is with these tape
kits, since they are pre-assembled economically at the factory and come
with connectors for joining additional lengths of tape.
Each kit supplies 8' (2.5m) of tape light, pre-soldered with a 48"
wire lead for connection to a power supply, a splice connector for in-line
strip-to-strip connections, a wire-lead connector to extend two sections
around corners, plus two wire support clips and installation instructions.
To join multiple kits, cut the pre-soldered 48" wire lead from any
tape being linked to the first and use the included splice connector to
create a continuous run of lighting.
The light strips are backed with
a high-tack peel-and-stick adhesive, and can be cut to length (every 4"
for the 30 LED/m, 2" for 60 LED/m and 1" for the 120 LED/m).
All produce a warm white light (about 3000K color temperature).
Warm White LED Tape Light by the Foot
If you don't want to use a kit, the tape is available by the foot, but
you will need to buy wiring and connectors separately. By-the-foot lighting
is an economical option when adding a short length of lighting to a kit.
For example, if you need 10' of lighting, instead of buying two 8' kits,
order one 8' kit plus another 2' of lighting and use a splice connector
to join the light strips.
All tape lighting requires a 12V
power supply with enough wattage to suit the intended application.
While not required, you may want to add a dimmer
to control the light intensity or a wireless
remote on/off switch. Additional connectors
and wire are available separately. For a more refined installation, we offer channels and diffusers.
