Our 5/8" tapered tenon cutter will quickly taper a shaft end for close fit with the tapered socket of our Veritas® Cane & Staff Tip. Used much like a hand-held pencil sharpener, it is suitable for use on soft, green or hard wood from 5/8" to 1-1/8" in diameter. It is a good alternative to freehand shaping of a shaft end, especially if you plan to make several canes or hiking staffs.
