Toolstep
Many digging tools have a plain top edge, rather than one that has been turned to form a small step. Even using a good tool with a step, digging can be awkward, since applying weight from the side of a tool makes it unbalanced. Furthermore, the arch of the foot, normally used to push down on the tool, should not bear a person's weight. Knowing this, we were still surprised by how well this little tool works. Slide it over the end of any digging tool with a handle less than 1-3/4" thick and 6-1/2" wide to form a step that makes digging easier, more efficient, and kinder to your feet. Positioned in the center of the tool, it effectively transfers all applied weight straight down without pushing the tool to one side.
The anti-slip platform is 4" x 3-1/2" and provides an excellent foothold for the front half of your foot. Perforations allow dirt to fall through, and the yellow color ensures it isn't easily lost in the garden.
Made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon, it is both strong and light, weighing less than 200g. Clever design. Works equally well on spades, forks and shovels.
