Traditional Glass Cloche | This product is no longer available.
Gardening literature dating back to the early 1600s makes note of this style of cloche for protecting seedlings from frost and for forcing plants out of season. (Our reprint of The Gardeners Kalendar from 1777 makes several references to them.)
By the early 1900s, French gardeners on the outskirts of Paris were using glass cloches by the thousands to grow plants out of season and thereby get higher market prices.
Our cloche measures about 15" x 11" high. It is perfect for protecting seedlings and forcing salad greens in early spring or late fall.
Made from heavy recycled glass, it will last for generations, if not centuries.
