Keep Them Sharp

Clean tools make gardening chores easier. Sharp tools do too. Surprisingly, many gardeners have never noticed that there are beveled edges on hoes and shovels to cut through dirt. Clean, oiled and sharpened shovels and hoes slide through soil and the soil slides off as well. This makes garden work faster and easier. Take a moment before you oil your tool or just before you use it to run the double-sided file along the beveled edge to make it nice and sharp. Once you see the difference it makes, you'll never use dull tools again.
