Beekeeping for Beginners

  Honey

It's important that your bees have enough honey to see them through the winter; so, in the first year, you'll likely have to leave what they produce in the hive. Don't worry, by the second year, you'll probably have more honey than you know what to do with.

  The Rewards
Beekeeping is an exciting hobby that provides many benefits. First, you get the chance to observe the honeybees' organization and drive, which will amaze you. Second, your garden will prosper, and so will your neighbors' gardens. And finally, you may find that things in life take on new meaning—the weather, the planting of farmers' crops, trees in bloom, wildflowers in ditches, insectivorous songbirds, etc. Ready access to your own delicious honey is only one small part of the overall reward.
