  Top Shade Garden Plants
A variety of plants flourish in light-deficient gardens; however, each plant's light requirements should be checked before purchasing to ensure it matches your garden's environment. Many shade gardens, particularly those under trees, receive direct sunlight in the spring, permitting the gardener to plant for a generous supply of tulips, daffodils and narcissus flowers.

Hostas
Produce primarily white or mauve flowers, insignificant in size or display. These plants are appreciated more for their variety of growing heights and colorful leaves. This perennial favorite is low maintenance, prefers full or partial shade and is a rewarding choice for any shade garden. Too much sun will burn the leaves.
