The plate materials

Cut a piece of foil about 2" to 3" (5 cm to 7 cm) longer and wider than the Plexiglas. Spread two layers of felt on a flat working surface and place a piece of foil on top (shiny side up).

Center the Plexiglas on top of the foil and press it down lightly to mark its outline on the foil. Remove the Plexiglas. Using the impression it has left on the foil as a guide, arrange your leaf vein side down on the foil. After composing your material, carefully replace the Plexiglas on top of it.

Leaf on foil under Plexiglas
The leaf is placed on the foil and then covered by the Plexiglas.

Tightly fold two opposite edges of the foil around the Plexiglas using tape to secure it. Leave the other two ends of the foil open.
