Avoiding Yard Improvement Mishaps

Removal of plant material: All plant material, unless otherwise indicated, is attached to the property and should be removed only with permission from the new buyer. A purchaser, impressed with the new well-landscaped lot, may have to spend a lot of money to fill craters left by a poaching previous owner.

Garden ornaments: This is a tricky area, as some ornaments could be considered fixtures and some chattels. A homeowner should always specify which ornaments he wishes to take with him before selling a home.

When it comes to your property, a little precaution can prevent a lot of future heartache.

Chattels
When selling your home, be sure to specify which chattels you plan to take and which you plan to leave.
