Log dogs

Log dogs
 
Rafting log dogs were pounded into the ends of logs. Then a cable or chain was threaded through the eyes to hold the logs together. The sizes and shapes varied.

Compared to today's mechanized logging operations, these tools highlight the intensity of labor associated with early forestry operations.
