Making Mock Flat Panels

Cutline
Pocket-hole technique.

This technique could also be used with biscuits instead of pocket holes, if you prefer. In that case, the construction order would have to change. First, fasten the top and bottom rails to the plywood panel using biscuits. Next, fasten the stiles to the sides of the panel and the ends of the rails, again using biscuits.

If you happen to have a loose tenon system, then the procedure should be similar to that of biscuits.

Is this fine furniture? No, certainly not. But it is solid, it looks great, it should stand up to plenty of use and abuse from my sons and last a good, long time.
