   Patricia's Bridal Cabinet: Part 3

Complete project.

There were many different hardware choices available as well. However, I kept the idea of the bride's cabinet in my mind and decided to go for a warm-colored brass. For the three doors, I chose simple, conservative, highest-quality butt hinges. For the door pulls, I went for a contemporary look, but something which had a classic feeling. Finally, for the drawers, I chose round solid brass knobs. Then, I made all the door stops and placed a bullet catch on the bottom panel doors. Next, I added drawer stops. Then I placed a lock and set in an escutcheon. On the top of the lower cabinet, at both ends, I made two 3/8" holes and planted small knobs into them. Underneath the top cabinet, I made corresponding holes to locate and secure into position. Then I gave everything a finish of Watco® oil and tung oil and, right before delivering it to Pat, I cleaned it with a waxed cloth.

When she saw the cabinet, she was so delighted. It gave me pleasure to see her smiling face. I am sure that this cabinet will be filled not only with small objects, but with lots of love and an abundance of memories.
