RTC Scraping Plane
At more than 13" long and a full 3 1/2" wide, and
weighing in at 8-1/2 lbs, this scraping plane is a brass casting
somewhat larger than most examples of this tool. It is possible
it was built for use on very large surfaces.
The two angled symmetrical 2 5/8" cherry knobs suggest
that the plane can be pushed or pulled. The 3" blade
is a full 7/32" thick and has a bevel ground on it, with
no hook. This blade is somewhat thicker than is normally found
on other scraping devices.

The use of this particular fixed-blade holder, or frog, is
unique for a wood -scraping plane; one side is fixed vertical
and the other side is a traditional cap iron, as found in
a conventional plane, with the screw into the frog. This combination
allows the blade to be tilted only a specific amount by the
two upper adjusting thumbscrews.
