   Hope Mill Restoration

The rebuilt turbines were returned to us and installed in 2004, again using the crane. Gears and shafting for the large turbine (40 horsepower) include new wooden gear teeth to provide power for the saw. The small turbine is 25 hp.

Open for Business
On June 28, 2005, we cut our first log. It took some time (volunteers met at the mill weekly for seven years, except during winter months), but we eventually opened to the public in June 2006.

We are open from May to October. A workshop is being built on the second floor next to the museum, with the hope of running woodworking demonstrations and practical workshops.
