The collet or tool holder is split, as is found today in many
tools, with an opening of 5/32".

(5) The tool storage is divided into two sections, suggesting
smaller metal or stone burrs, abrasive discs or perhaps even
a masonry drill bit of a fixed size.

This tool is so finely made and assembled there can be no possibility
of this being a one-off, or for that matter, a patent model
or perhaps even a smaller salesman sample.
There has been much discussion at the Lee Valley Tools Think
Tank (LVTTT) as to the intended use of this finely crafted and
commercially made tool, with the more printable suggestions
tending to be for polishing, small hole drilling in stones or
even a fixed sized concrete drill. To be frank, we just do not
know.
We appeal to all Glaswegians who might have some insight as
to the intended use of "The Glasgow".
