(4) The collet or tool holder is split, as is found today in many tools, with an opening of 5/32".

Split collet Bit Storage
Split collet.   Bit storage.

(5) The tool storage is divided into two sections, suggesting smaller metal or stone burrs, abrasive discs or perhaps even a masonry drill bit of a fixed size.

(6) This tool is so finely made and assembled there can be no possibility of this being a one-off, or for that matter, a patent model or perhaps even a smaller salesman sample.

There has been much discussion at the Lee Valley Tools Think Tank (LVTTT) as to the intended use of this finely crafted and commercially made tool, with the more printable suggestions tending to be for polishing, small hole drilling in stones or even a fixed sized concrete drill. To be frank, we just do not know.

We appeal to all Glaswegians who might have some insight as to the intended use of "The Glasgow".
