Description

Invented centuries ago, a camera lucida (Latin for "light chamber") is a drawing aid that was designed to help artists outline an image in proper proportion and perspective.

When you aim it at what you want to draw and look through the viewfinder, you see a reflected image of your subject overlaid onto your drawing surface, where you can simply trace it.

For the hobbyist, it is an easy way to reproduce images on materials such as wood, cloth, paper or even stencil film. It can be mounted to a work table or easel by its aluminum clamp; its flexible neck lets you maneuver the viewfinder to position the image, so you can work seated or standing.

Included light and dark filters can be used to adjust contrast in differing light conditions. You can even fine-tune the scale of the image by adjusting the viewfinder height.
