SutureSafe®
 |
| |
| The gift of comfort to protect and relieve tension on sutures. |
| |
|
Compliant with Health Canada and FDA (USA) regulations, these are
widely used in operating rooms and clinics for post-surgical support
of closed incisions. This is the first time anywhere that they have
been offered to the general public.
Among many features, the key ones are that these devices relieve
painful tension on sutures and staples while guarding against sudden
movement (e.g., coughing or sneezing) that could cause closed wounds
to reopen.
The devices may look like adhesive bandages but they are far more.
The key elements are a hypoallergenic silicone elastomer and a clear
RipStop™ film, a film that is used initially to set ideal

elastomer stretch to transfer tension from the wound site to the adhesive
strips, and thereafter serves to protect the wound from sudden movements.

|
Meanwhile, the elastic silicone removes tension on the wound by creating
an area of relaxed skin adjacent to the incision line, reducing both pain
and scarring, while giving the patient a feeling of security that allows
increased mobility, vital to recovery.
As a gift, it definitely beats sending flowers!

Sold as a set of twelve 1/2" x 4" or a set of eight 5/8"
x 8-1/2" devices; either product size comes with enough SutureSafe
for 14 days of use on a 4" to 4-1/2" long incision, or 7 days

or similar large areas where space is not limited and tension on sutures/staples
is usually greater.
Each SutureSafe lasts about 7 days on the skin and you can continue use
for up to 29 days. They are designed to resist water effects; however,
a slight reduction in adhesion time can be expected if showering daily.
SutureSafe can be applied by the patient (or an assistant) depending
on wound accessibility. Patient instructions included.
