If you are joining multiple strips of tape lighting, you may need more connectors and wire than are included in the kits.

Note that outdoor installations or those in wet locations, like shower enclosures, require the use of outdoor-grade connectors and wire, in addition to outdoor-grade lighting.White LED tape lighting uses two-conductor wires and connectors. If you are connecting multiple individual white LED lights, for example, mini lights or downlights, two-conductor wire is needed.

A. Splice connector: used to join two light strips for a continuous run of lighting.

B. Wire lead connector: indoor use only; for running tape light around a corner, or to connect adjacent strips. You can cut the wire in half, producing two wire leads with connectors that can be joined with a length of wire, useful when extending power wires or connecting tape light in another area.

C. 48" indoor wire with connector: used with indoor tape lighting as a wire extension from the power supply to the tape light or as a jumper cable between sections of tape light.

D. Outdoor/wet location extension connector: used to make secure connections between electrical wire and outdoor LED tape lighting, this connector has a snap-closure at one end to accept tape lighting; we recommend sealing this joint with shrink tube. The input end has a factory-sealed connection to a 10" length of 20 gauge wire rated for outdoor/wet location use.

E. Wire-ready connector: used to make secure connections between electrical wire and outdoor LED tape lighting without soldering. One end of the connector has a snap-closure that locks firmly onto the end of the tape lighting; solid-core wire simply press-fits into the other end. These connectors require the use of the appropriate solid-core (non-stranded) electrical wire below. If you'd rather use different wire, we suggest you use 00U42.90 or solder it to the tape lighting.

F. Wire support clip: a simple wire holder with an adhesive backing. Works with two-conductor wire.

G. - H. Indoor/in-wall wire: in-wall rated, stranded wire supplied as a 26.2' (8m) roll. The 22 gauge is suitable for short wire runs. The heavier 18 gauge wire is a good choice to reduce voltage drop when using longer runs of wire and when using multiple individual LED lights.

J. 18 gauge solid-core two-conductor outdoor-rated wire: supplied in a 26.2' (8m) roll. This wire is specifically selected for use with the two-conductor wire-ready connectors listed above for white LED tape lighting. It is also well suited for connecting the power supply and color controller of color-controlled lighting installations and for use with the mini recessed lights. It is rated for indoor/outdoor application and direct burial.

K. 14 gauge stranded, two conductor, outdoor-rated wire:supplied as a 26.2' (8m) roll. A good choice to minimize voltage drop over long runs, outdoor or indoor. Its two-conductor format is directly suited for use with white LED lighting (tape or spot).Although its stranded format is incompatible with the wire-ready connectors used for outdoor tape lighting, it can still be used to minimize voltage drop over long outdoor runs; just connect a short length of 18 gauge solid-core wire between it and the tape lighting. This wire is also well-suited to bridge long distances between the power supply and color controller of color-controlled tape lighting installations.

L. Screw terminal block for indoor use: for secure connection of wiring, these four-pin blocks accept wires from 14 to 22 gauge. A block can be cut in half to create two 2-pin blocks. Block can be surface mounted using a brad or small screw.

M. Shrink tube: used for outdoor or wet location installationsto seal splice and wire-to-tape lighting connections or tape ends that have been cut.It provides electrical insulation and water resistance. When heated to about 110C/230F with a heat gun or torch, it shrinks by up to half its diameter and coats its content with a sealant, forming a snug jacket around wiring connections.

N. Crimped butt connector: used to create an outdoor-rated, solder-free connection between two pieces of 18 or 20 gauge wire. Without need of a heat gun, a sealant within the connector coats the wire leads as they enter it; simply crimp the connector to secure the joint.

O. Silicone-filled wire nuts: used to seal wire connections. Suitable for direct burial.

P. Small wire nuts: for light-gauge wire: used to help secure and protect indoor wire connections, these threaded nuts are suitable for use with 16 to 22 gauge wire.

The 22ga. Stranded Two-Conductor In-Wall Wire, 26.2' (8m) is no longer available.
