Carve a Soapstone Sea Star
Saturday, April 20, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This session will focus on the handling of tools commonly used for soapstone carving, safety in power tool use and protection from stone debris caused during the course of sculpting the stone. As you work your way through the stone, from a raw piece to a finished product, you will use your imagination to bring the sea star to life. All tools and materials provided.
Fee: $75.00

Mike Stewart started carving in 2007. His first introduction to this art form was a woodcarving seminar at Lee Valley Tools. Taking the inanimate and bringing it to life" has been Mike's ambition since he started carving/sculpting. Wanting to broaden his horizons, Mike took sculpting courses in clay at Place des Arts in Coquitlam and from there he went onto to carving in stone. Currently his works are in private collections in Canada, the U.S.A. and overseas in Great Britain and Tehran.
