Aside from their obvious utility in confined spaces, short bits can be easier to position and control than standard bits, as well as less prone to breakage. Further, they won’t amplify chuck run-out as would a longer bit, reducing the potential for an oversize hole.
These have 1/4" hex shanks, making them convenient for use with quick-change chucks on drills and other 1/4" driver adapters, including extensions. All the bits are ground M2 high-speed steel, and range in length from 1-15/16" to 2-5/16" overall.
The twist-style bits, with a lower cutting angle on the tips, are a better choice for harder materials such as dense hardwoods, acrylic plastic and unhardened metal, and come in a set of five in 3/32", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 5/16" sizes. The utility brad-point bits, with central points and outer scoring spurs to help ensure clean entry in wood or UHMW plastic, come as a set of six in 3/32", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" sizes.
They are good bits at a great price.
