How to Get Started

For the most basic of set-ups, you just need an LED lighting kit in the desired density, some wire, a power supply and a color controller. While not required, you may want to add an on/off switch.

Getting Started Guide

Each color-controlled tape light contains red, green and blue (RGB) LEDs (at 30 LEDs/metre) factory-sealed within clear, weather-resistant tubing. By adjusting the level of each base color (much like mixing paint) you can set the lighting to any color from a near-endless spectrum (including variations of white).

It can be purchased in 32' (10m) rolls or in by-the-foot lengths, as well as in a convenient factory-assembled kit. The kit supplies an 8' (2.5m) roll of tape light, one splice connector for adding lengths of tape light, three wire-ready connectors (one to connect the lighting to circuit wire, and the other two, when joined by wire, to let you extend two sections of lighting around a corner), four lengths of weather-resistant shrink tubing for sealing joints and cut ends, and installation instructions.

30 RGB LEDs per metre (9 LEDs per foot)

To allow a custom fit, the tape lighting can be cut to length with scissors at the nearest cut line, marked every 4" along its length, and is backed with a high-tack peel-and-stick adhesive that makes mounting easy.

This type of lighting requires a color controller (sold separately) for blending the red, green and blue LEDs into a selected color, and a 12VDC power supply with enough wattage to suit the installation.

Additional Components

All RGB LED lighting requires a 12VDC power supply with enough wattage to suit the intended application, some wiring and a color controller. While not required, you may want to add an on/off switch. For a more refined installation, we offer channels and diffusers.
