This two-stage filter model has a 4.2 amp two-speed motor that will filter the air at a maximum rate of 540 cfm (cubic feet per minute). Based on the manufacturer's recommended filter rate of 6 to 10 air exchanges per hour, this unit is suitable for rooms 3,200 to 5,400 cubic feet (or a maximum of 26' x 26' x 8'). The unit has two filtration stages; the first consists of a washable polyurethane foam pre-filter in a metal frame, and the second is a 6-pocket bag filter assembly of woven polyester. For filtering a lot of fine drywall or stone dust, the optional pleated poly/cotton filter is recommended as a pre-filter to the 6-pocket filter (it replaces the foam pre-filter and will extend the use of the 6-pocket filter).
The motor has two speeds — high speed when dust is being created and low speed for continuous use. The steel box (20" wide by 25" long by 11" deep) is supplied with chain mounting hardware (including eye bolts and S-hooks for ceiling mounting), a pull cord switch and a "power on" indicator light. The double squirrel cage fans are factory balanced and the motors have thermal overload protection.
