Classic Joints with Power Tools | by Yeung Chan
Although Chan advises using power tools for speed and precision, he advocates a balance between hand and power tools for truly fine work, and gives a sound overview of each.
His description of jigs for the table saw, bandsaw and router covers all jigs necessary for the joints he describes. He includes all the standard joints, and some not so common but very effective (such as a triple-lap joint used in Chinese furniture). He provides excellent detail, not readily found elsewhere, in the area of three-way tenons.
His step-by-step instructions with diagrams and copious color photographs, starting with the simple joints and proceeding to the complex, should enable even the advanced woodworker to develop improved techniques. He finishes with a gallery of photographs of truly inspiring furniture.
Softcover, 8-1/2" x 10", 175 pages, 2002. |
